Katherine Sangster MSP
About Me
I was elected in May 2026 as the Member of the Scottish Parliament for Edinburgh and Lothians East. Since then, I have been working hard to represent residents across the region, meeting with local people, community groups and organisations to understand the issues that matter most to them.
In Parliament, I have already raised important issues affecting our communities, including the recent wildfires on Arthur’s Seat and the need for greater flexibility in the delivery of 1,140 hours of funded childcare.
My journey into politics began because I was frustrated by the lack of childcare options available to working families. Too many parents are forced to choose between their careers and finding childcare that works for their family. Since then, I have campaigned tirelessly for greater flexibility and choice for working parents, and I will continue to fight for these changes as your MSP.
Alongside this work, I will work with the Scottish Government to ensure that every child receives the best possible education, that Scotland’s world-renowned cultural sector continues to thrive, and that we celebrate the many successes of our country. I am committed to making Edinburgh and Lothians East, and Scotland as a whole, an even better place to live, work and raise a family.
It is a privilege to represent the wonderful communities across our region. If you have an issue, concern or idea that you would like to discuss, please do not hesitate to get in touch. My team and I are here to help and support you in any way we can.
